“We Need to do Better” offers a vulnerable melody, steeped in melancholy and yearning. Bauer’s sensitivity and dark, smoky tone are on full display. The audience might forget they’re listening to a trumpet, hearing instead the cries from Jonathan’s own heart.

Opening with a beautiful piano intro from London’s own Liam Dunachie, the stage is set for the band to collectively present their message. Thoughtfully and with purpose, Jonathan and Liam don the responsibility of telling stories in their solos that stay true to the theme. Along with a grounded rhythm section in Joshua Walker-Martin on drums and Huw V. Williams on upright bass, this band demands your ears and leaves the listener thinking, “surely, we need to do better.”
