Jonathan Bauer is an internationally recognized trumpeter, educator, composer, and singer from Alberta, Canada(?). Celebrated for his dark, warm sound and soulful improvisational approach, Bauer divides his time between London, UK, New Orleans, Louisiana, and Canada. All of these distinctive regions influence his music, which is a thoughtful fusion of the European scene and the American South. His <<SOUND>> voice and playing have been likened to honey drizzled over a buttery biscuit.
As a bandleader, Bauer has released two records under his name, Walk Don't Run (LABEL/YEAR) and Sings And Plays (LABEL/YEAR), with a new EP and album set for release in 2026. His music has taken him on tours across Canada, the US, the UK, Belgium, Germany, and Denmark, and he has headlined at numerous prestigious clubs, including Ronnie Scott's, the Cotton Club, the Hot Jazz Club, and Frankie's, among others.
Bauer's collaborations are a testament to his versatility and talent. Notably, from his time with the Grammy-Award Winning New Orleans Jazz Orchestra, Bauer has performed and/or recorded with a wide range of artists, including Dee Dee Bridgewater, Ellis Marsalis, Robert Glasper, Cyrille Aimee, the Lionel Hampton Big Band, the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Renee Neufville, as well as notable pop artists such as Sheila E., Eric Benét, and Ledisi. << Maybe add a sentence about any other collaborations you've had, or soon to have. And/Or: "He is currently planning for his upcoming releases later this fall, with additional tour dates scheduled to begin in early 2026.">> Bauer is a brand ambassador for Divitt Trumpets (link).
